Bunny Towel and Mr. Sunshine

It's a very sad day for many today as my super grand dad just passed away this morning... I believe he has gone to a better place for he has suffered many years trying to cope with his illness. May his soul rest in peace...

I was meaning to put this up yesterday night but was so tired. So while waiting for all the hospital procedures to be done for the release of my Grand dad's body so we can pay our last respects... I'll just put this up.

My cousins Jessica and Martina has been a big help in advising what stuff I should get before the baby comes. My mom helped me out on the list of things that I need to get ready too... One of them are baby towels and handkerchiefs...

I used some of the towels my dad gets for free from Shell and started cutting them up in 3s.... And since I thought White is just so darn boring, I decided to add some...

Bunny Ears!!!!

That's my mom in the laptop screen... I was showing the Bunny towel off and was taking some pictures for the blog while talking to her.

I wished I had a baby with me to parade in the stuff I make... sigh... What's great about this was I am starting to stop depending on tutorials!! I'm getting the hang of these tutorials

That's Mr. Sunshine :) He was made because of a mistake I made...
His towel body was supposed to be a handkerchief for the baby... but I screwed it up and decided to attach a head to it... hence the existence of Mr. Sunshine here :))

I sewed some cartoon filled cotton fabric to the towels just to make it look fancy. Snoopy was Miguel's idea... I wanted something more... unique.. I would still need to sew more handkerchiefs anyways so i'll experiment later.

Again... I wish i have a baby to parade in all these stuff. So i forced stuffed my head in the bunny hood so I can show how it will more or less fit with my baby :)

What's for lunch?

I saw this tutorial once on how to make chef hats for babies, toddlers, teenagers and adults! I don't remember where but I had tried remembering every detail of it at that time... I suddenly thought about it last night as I was going to sleep and decided to make a baby chef hat!

And then I got carried away and started making a felt Ham and Cheese Sandwich with a beef burger patty and egg on the side just the way I like it :)

The Picture is a little blurred but I wanted to have it all in the same picture and my batteries were dying!

Ham and cheese sandwich with lettuce, cheese, sliced tomatoes with a beef burger patty, egg and extra cheese on the side!

The Chef head I made... it's just waiting for my baby and he/she can be mommy's little helper.

Miguel having his sandwich with everything in it except the egg... he likes the extra cheese to go with it

And you can clearly see how much he loves it!

He made me Swear!

That... was what my hubby did. He made me swear to use up all the felt that I had bought...
To make sure that I will put them all to the good use of sewing for our baby before leaving for Chile or wherever it is we are going...
And that's what I did... and did again and again everytime I see felt sold anywhere here in KK!

It took me 1 week ++ to go around, walk around and drive around the city looking for them and when i found them I went crazy!!!

I'm gonna use these babies for felt slippers/booties, Felt toys, Felt softies, Felt Child's travel play book, felt ornaments, felt Everything!!!

One very important thing that I would have to use this felt for would be the play mat that I have carefully planned and designed... but because I am so busy with sewing more booties that I have to put that on hold...

Will write again when I sew Next :)

It didn't stop there...

After the first post, I made more of these booties because a few people have actually wanted them. So I went on working and made these!

And most of these shoes had been sent off :)

I'm back to sewing more then :))) Oh, and Miguel's helping me with the cutting and designing now... Which is just so sweet of him! How cool is it to get your husband on the sewing team?!! :)))))

I could never ask for more :)

I so LOVE these shots! Taken by a friend of ours who comes down every now and then for photo session appointments! Her next trip will be somewhere late July to Mid August before flying back to Sibu, Sarawak. Anyone interested to take any pictures, here's what the package is like:-

200 photos will be taken
Additional 30 edited photos
3 hours photo session
Anywhere you want... Let it be in the comforts of your home, in the streets, a resort etc etc anything at all!
All for only RM260 (deposit up front to avoid cancellation as she flies from Sibu)!!!

No make-up included, that one has to be done on your own
but hey! RM260 for good shots!!! I know I'll never regret mine!!

She does excellent shots for family portraits, pre wedding shots, preggers, kids, babies, couples, etc ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF! And the best part is she is just so fun and comfortable to work with! I didn't know her all to well, and Miguel and I were both camera shy but with her, it was just so much fun!

Here are some of the photos taken. There are more but I'll put them up when I can.

These pictures makes excellent keepsakes! Some of which we can blow up and hang in the living or in the nursery etc! I'm just so happy we did this!

The Soldier, The Nurse, The Bandit and The Faithful Maid

After my obsession with the baby booties, my hubby decided that I try something else... we can't possibly have baby shoes all over the place. So I found Jodie's One-Hour Softie tutorial and found these softies extremely irresistible!! Of course running around Kota Kinabalu for nearly a week looking for felt was not something my hubby enjoyed but I found them anyways!

You can find the tutorials here

And here's what I did..

The Soldier and The Nurse :)

I really like the nurse... I'm thinking of sewing an ambulance for her

The Soldier on his toes

This was not in the tutorial but I decided to make a bandit and a maid anyways...

I just happened to have this stripy material lying around and immediately thought of a bandit

The blond maid. Isn't she lovely??

I am thinking about adding more characters... it's also great for the babies or kids to hug onto.

And that's one for the album :)

Till I sew next...

Cheers!

My first steps

I attempted knitting baby booties but I guess I don't have much patience for it. I kept losing my counts on when to purl and to knit or yarn over etc and since i'm used to it, I tend to get everything jumbled up and unable to retract what I have just done neatly. My patterns ended up crooked and so I gave up.

I stumbled upon some scrap clothing from my mom's previous sewing projects and searched over the internet and found tutorials on sewing baby booties :)

One I found was over at Joanna Armour's Stardust Blog. You can find the tutorial of making them yourself Here.

Here are some of the shoes I have made. Once I started I just couldn't stop. It just seems as though I was obsessed with making them! they are just so cute!!

This was actually the first shoe I made! From simple plain red and yellow cotton fabrics and an unwanted green stripped shirt that my sister Rachel didn't want anymore.. It actually turned out super cute :)

I made two with this fabric pattern, but I gave one of them away as a gift to a friend of mine who had just had her adorable baby girl. Hers had a red bow to it.

This one is quite thick... but comfortable at the same time. Reminds me of Christmas time... It looks so comfy that I just want to slip my own two feet in them!

From a Bandanna to a shoe... And I've even made another one in...

Blue :)

I got carried away really... I was going nuts on making tonnes of booties. My man was trying to figure me out!

I was on my way up the stairs to my room when I saw a pair of socks still new in its packaging and thought... HEY... another shoe? Why not?! this one's a thick one too. So comfy!

I decided that I had to stop before I get too far with the booties... So here's TWO for the album

Till I sew next :)
